Be Behind Benin! This holiday season, the Hanze University Foundation is raising funds for Esperanza University College, an entrepreneurial institute in Benin, West Africa. These funds will be used for scholarships, teacher training and educational materials. As a Hanze UAS employee or student, you can support Esperanza by donating your Christmas gift, or by making a donation on the crowdfunding site. Hanze students are also organizing several events to surpass the amount raised last year (€15.635) for a kitchen in Uganda.
Esperanza University College was established in 2009 to stimulate entrepreneurship and overcome the country’s recent Marxist past. Since 2009, 33 students have graduated. They are either employed at the companies where they completed their internship or have started their own company. Hanze UAS began a partnership with the Esperanza University College in 2014. The amount raised by this Christmas gift activity and events from Hanze UAS students will be combined to provide Esperanza with full scholarships for ambitious students, educational program development and required educational materials (i.e. books, projector, internet connection).
