Back-on-Track scholarships awarded

The Hanze University Foundation awarded several Back-on-Track scholarships in September 2020. Partners had until August 1, 2020 to submit an application. The following applications have been issued:

North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC)

The original application stood for a total of 14 students for half a year. Due to a favorable exchange rate, it was possible to add 1 more student to this list. The students are selected by NCMTC on the basis of urgency. To prevent many students from having to stop their studies, NCMTC has accommodated all students by lowering tuition fees. This also contributed to the addition of 1 extra scholarship student.

The students who have received the scholarship depend on their families who normally pay the tuition fees. Due to loss of income due to the corona pandemic, it was not possible for these families to continue to pay tuition fees and keep the student in class. The students were mainly in the final year and final phase of their studies.

Update: 01-02-2021

Due to the ongoing curfew and corona measures, there is a second application 5000 approved, to support the same students for another six months.

TSiBA

TSIBA Business School is a higher education institution in South Africa, focused on entrepreneurship and business administration. The school aims to give young people access to knowledge, networks and employment opportunities to actively participate in society. In South Africa, youth unemployment has risen to 41.7% in the first quarter of 2020. Through education, focusing on self-development, leadership and entrepreneurship, TSIBA's alumni give students a percentage higher than 90% who have found employment.

TSIBA has a scholarship system, which many students use. What TSiBA hadn't counted on was the corona pandemic, which forced all students to homeschool. Not all students have the financial means to stay online and buy mobile internet packages. The Hanze University Foundation supported a total of 235 students with internet/data packages, so that they could continue to take online classes and not fall behind in their studies.
