Mariam Athman Takdir

“I started a business to support myself in school fee payments”

Mariam is a third year, female, diploma in emergency and trauma student at North Coast Medical Training College in Kenya. Mariam is a full orphan. She got married and hoped the husband would support. However, the marriage broke and since then she is doing some business to support herself in fee payment, in addition to taking study loans. She normally buys women clothes from Mombasa to sell them in the area around the college and that is how she takes care of her upkeep and part of her fees. She is above average academically and relates well with people. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, general lack of money and customers and the restrictions on travel, specifically the inter-county lockdown her business stopped completely.
